Shaping the future of health care for mature women everywhere

Women deserve to thrive – at every stage of life

Women spend up to 50 per cent of their lives in perimenopause, menopause and beyond. Yet there are significant gaps in the health-care knowledge and support for menopause-related symptoms or other health conditions they experience as they age.

Too many women’s menopause symptoms have been dismissed as ‘normal’. Too few studies have investigated why women are more likely to die after a heart attack than men. And too many women have been told to cope with ‘unexplained’ symptoms that negatively impact their relationships, psychological well-being and overall quality of life.

Closing the gaps in women’s health care is long overdue.

At Sinai Health, we're working to address this global equity issue. The Weston and O’Born Centre for Mature Women’s Health at Mount Sinai Hospital is our answer to the pressing gaps that exist in research, education and care. As the most comprehensive centre of its kind in the world, it will ensure more women than ever before are heard and cared for – through all of life’s stages.

We’re listening

Grace was 45 when her symptoms became so severe, she nearly quit the job she loved. It was at Sinai Health where she finally felt heard and empowered to change the course of her life. Watch her story.

We need to invest in research that finally puts women at the centre.

This fall, we're launching a new campaign focused on raising awareness around all the unanswered questions that still exist in women's health - and raising support for the research we need to close these gaps.
